Making You Own Laundry Detergent

Laundry detergent can truly be expensive. Thankfully my mother taught be how to make my own! Cue the Angels singing Hallelujah! Thankfully it's super simple, and the best part is that its dye free, and there are no harsh chemicals!

Below I've posted the recipe, and everything you'll need to make it!

  • 1 box Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda, 3lbs 7oz

  • 1 box Borax, 4 lbs 12 oz

  • 1 box Pure Baking Soda, 4 lbs (Mine were each 2 pounds, which is why I have two boxes.)

  • 3 bars Fels-Naptha

  • 1 container of Oxy Clean, 1.3 lbs (I used the Kroger brand)

  • 1 Food Processor

  • 1 5 Gallon bucket

The 3 bars of Fels-Naptha have to be chopped up, and then cut finely in the food processor. Once you get those done, pour EVERYTHING into your 5 gallon bucket, and mix together with a wooden spoon (or any long spoon is fine). Keep the little scoop that comes in the Oxy Clean container, as your detergent measuring scoop.

Once everything is mixed together, you can either put your lid on your bucket and store it next to your washer and dryer, or transfer some of that detergent into a large jar with a lid, and store it on your laundry room shelf!

I hope ya'll enjoy making and using your homemade detergent, as much as my family and I do!
